Will Trump Get into Heaven? An Expert's Opinion
It was delightful to read humorist Dave Schilling's essay on Trump's current preoccupation with getting into heaven. Trump has speculated on the criteria for making the grade and on the process that precedes selection.
We have already seen how he proceeds when he wants an award or to be ranked appropriately. We saw this, are still seeing this, on the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump believes he is entitled to this honor. Some years have gone by when supporters nominated him but he has never come close to receiving it. He works hard at understanding the system for the award and, thinking he understands it, tries to manage it.
When Trump has not received the Nobel Peace Prize his response seems to be, "Wait a minute here. I know people. I don't have to take this sh-t." He has been calling up world leaders telling them they need to call Nobel and get the award arranged.
Another strategy he has often used is to sue. In the link, Schilling says he might go to this option if he is denied heaven. He may already have files a case against the Nobel Peace Prize.
Some readers may recall Trump was asked during the 2016 campaign if he had ever prayed to ask for forgiveness of his sins. He replied, as I recall, he had not because he had done nothing wrong. A person who has never sinned is surely has an excellent chance of passing the test for heaven. If those who are making evaluations, St. Peter it is said, are afraid of getting sued or of being ridiculed in public, Crooked Hillary, Trump's odds will rise.
Readers here know there are three views on getting into heaven. One, big in the Catholic branch, is that good deeds count the most. Other branches stress belief and say deeds don't count. A third view is that both deeds and belief count. It is quite apparent Trump has never heard of the belief branch and could care less. He also has no use for that forgiveness thing.
Trump can stop worrying about his afterlife future. His chances of getting into heaven are the same as those of everyone else. Neither the believers nor to good deed crew will go to a place that does not exist. Trump is out of luck and so are the rest of us.
