James Dobson is Dead. LGBQ+ Live On

James Dobson, who had a long running radio program followed by organizations that preached hate and promoted converting from homosexuality through prayer and Christian pressure, has died. Many who hate gays will celebrate his life. Many whom he tried to destroy have survived even though wounded.

Mixed in with prejudice against gay people were absolute lies. The lies were in interpretations of the Bible but also claims that people who were gay had been "cured." He lied that gay people are immoral and the he himself was not.

I wonder how many thousands of parents rejected their gay children because they were told by Dobson this is what they should do. Among his earlier wisdom was advocating not just spanking children but beating them until they stopped crying. The irony is he is regarded as a promoter of "family values." Everything he said and did seemed destined to destroy families. 

Dobson's wealth is estimated at over $10 million.

One of his most well known efforts was a money making enterprise to make gay men straight. Several who worked there were gay and, for a while, claimed they were straight. Later they left Dobson and returned to live as gay men. 

One thing about Dobson's life appears certain. He changed nothing. He did collect a lot of money from people and employed many. But the movement to eliminate discrimination against gay people was stronger than he ever was and, while his legacy of hate lives on, the march toward equal treatment of gay and genders of all kinds was not eliminated but continues as if Dobson never existed.

I don't know if Dobson used profanity, but I expect there was some if there was a moment when he learned about his future in the afterlife.
