How Many Religions Held Rituals in This Cave



A cave with a beautiful underground lake has been used by various humans with various gods for 24,000 years. It is apparent people who worshipped many different gods used it. It is instructive for the history of humans and our ability to see gods no matter the generation. 

I grew up in the rural Middle West and had no interest and little knowledge of the people who lived where I did before white people took over. Now I learn there are burial sites all around where our family farm was located. The mounds imply religious meaning to the death and burial of those ancients who lived there. The sands of time buried the religions that were gone when I was there and those same sands are slowly doing away with the Christianity of white Europeans. The native people who lived there before Europeans needed whatever religion they practiced. White Europeans needed the mythology of Christianity. Future cultures will need something else and people then will create whatever they need.

Everyday Christian clergy tell us Christianity holds the final and ultimate answer to the past, present and future. For some reason these clergy, and their passionate followers, are unable to recognize they and their views are just another in the passing parade of gods and religions. The cave in the link holds a truth about the parade of gods and religions. We have the choice to recognize this parade or pretend changes we ourselves have experience in our own lifetimes never happened.

Will We Ever Know How Accurate Current Bibles Are

When I discuss the many times the Bible was copied and recopied by scribes over a couple of thousand years, the reply is often, "I have a book by this (or that) expert who says the Bible is 99% accurate to its original writers." The 99% claim appears in various places defending the Bible. There is one thing we know absolutely: There is no surviving original copy of the Bible. Even the oldest surviving material is a generation or two after the time some of the Bible was written. This means no one can claim he has, or ever will, compare the current Bible to the original Bible and find the two are 99% the same. We cannot claim either that it is not 99% accurate. For the sake of discussion, however, assume the current Bible is 99% accurate. That would mean the one word out of every 100 was inaccurate. Time to Forget the Christian Nation Thing

While women are forbidden from being priests/preachers in some branches of Christianity thank goodness they are not forbidden from writing and lecturing about Christianity. A great article about the "Christian nation" notion shows us the U.S. is not a Christian nation and hopefully never will be.
