Was "The God Delusion" Wrong

We're now a couple of decades past the best seller by Richard Dawkins. Its sales have fallen, new writers emerged and time has gone on. Now it is popular to claim Dawkins has been defeated. That is, conservative pundits, making a living selling to conservative readers, are claiming the existence of an invisible super-natural force is not a delusion but backed by science-based information. 

One can see a pattern in the critics of Dawson. It is the same pattern that we have seen of evolution since day one. Someone, usually only one, person with science credentials will write somewhere the creation including humans is too complex to have happened without a "designer" or "creator." 

Usually the critic has some way to justify the amount of time it would take for something like fish becoming bird or the human hand to develop and decide it could not have happened by evolution. There wasn't enough time, it the bogus theory. 

Then there are comments made by prominent atheists in which they say complimentary things about societies that are Christian. Dawkins once said he prefers to live in a country with a history of Christianity than one with a history of other religions. This does not mean Dawkins has changed his mind and favors Christian creationism over evolution. These criticisms are childish. 

The truth is best-selling books like The God Delusion either persuaded lots or people to leave the faith or reflected the loss that was already happening. Those managing the faith should simply accept the fact the Bible is a collection of ancient myths and not the source of knowledge about where the universe came from or what happens to us after we die. The faith can instead teach that our country has believed in the same myths that were present in Europe when white people came here and we can enjoy its holidays and traditions. Churches could become places where people learn about the power and danger of myth instead of places that repeat myths.
