The Flap Over Gender in Sports Will Evaporate



When a doctor circles M or F on a birth certificate, religious conservatives cheer and pass laws this restricts where to person later can compete in sports. When the gender is M that person must be prohibited from ever participating in women's sports. The opposite switch does not seem to be of interest. 

Returning to Michelle Obama having a white ancestor some generations back on both her mother and father's side reminds us there has not been a clear line between white and black people for hundreds of years. This did not stop religious conservatives with an economic or political interest in maintaining separation of the races from claiming a clear separation existed. They did it aggressively. 

The same lines are drawn by the same religious conservatives today about gender. The doctor's decision shown on the birth decision does not recognize some humans carry part of two different genders. Science has not yet spent much time finding variations in how much of each gender individual people carry. Visually, a non scientist like myself can see that some women have physical characteristics quite different from other females. 

I'm guessing new science will come along with measurements about gender that will put the clear differentiation invalid. If this is the case the ability to kick some athletes off the field for being the "wrong gender" will be made more difficult.

Talarico Looks Like an Obama II

We all have our ideas about what is good or smart politics. I'm no different. Those who read this blog have to hear mine. My thinking is millions of voters will go to the polls in the next two elections for the specific purpose of voting against Trump. Most of these voters, however, will not admit that is why or how they are voting. They will have convinced themselves they are voting for some reason more idealistic and loftier. An example of what they might say to themselves is, "I'm voting for a better country." The job of Democrats, Libertarians, Socialists and whomever is to give those voters something that ends the sentence, "I'm voting for someone other than a Republican because..."  The sentence will not end in "...I hate Trump." It will be something else. Time to Forget the Christian Nation Thing

While women are forbidden from being priests/preachers in some branches of Christianity thank goodness they are not forbidden from writing and lecturing about Christianity. A great article about the "Christian nation" notion shows us the U.S. is not a Christian nation and hopefully never will be.
