Trump at Mt. Rushmore: Communists are Back



In what borders of parody, Trump railed against "communists" at Mr. Rushmore. None of the four faces in Mt. Rushmore were against communists nor against government. All were responsible for some government expansion. Washington gave the green light to the government growth of Alexander Hamilton. Before the, Washington chaired the Constitutional Convention establishing a stronger federal government over interstate commerce. Lincoln decided all states must knuckle under, so he defeated the South. 

In the link's report of his speech, Trump hints that immigrants are communists. Pope Leo gave an address recently where he admonished the continents of Europe and America to welcome the newcomer. This is the opposite of Trump who likes to hint immigrants are not the right race, creed or loyalty.

I'll admit it's creative to bring back "communists" as the villain. Trump noted the original Russian version of communism saw Christianity as an enemy of Communism and worked to ends that competed with the government's goals of more equal income and wealth. The new version, Putin's, is big on a version of orthodox Christianity. Trump has never been too interested in such details.

I see the NY Post, a "newspaper" that is all in for Trump, posted an article devoted to the evils of communism. The right's controlled message for this July 4th is that the communists are coming. If you see one please let us know.

Ancient God, Bel (Baal), the Main Character in an Ancient Play

In a British museum is a preserved stone tablet from Babylon. It dates to about 2,000 BCE. Someone labored patiently to inscribe an entire passion play featuring the god Bel. I reiterate this is a stone tablet, not a recopied papyrus. The play begins with the god Bel arrested by soldiers and taken off the stage. He reappears at a trial in the Hall of Judgement. Bel is innocent but is sentenced to death. In the next scene Bel is accosted by a mob. He is despised and rejected. The actor playing Bel is then taken by guard to a hilltop in a sacred grove. Two criminals are taken with him. One of these is released. The the audience then leaves the theater and follows the actor Bel and his guards to the top of a hill where the death scene is enacted by hanging from a tree. Time to Forget the Christian Nation Thing

While women are forbidden from being priests/preachers in some branches of Christianity thank goodness they are not forbidden from writing and lecturing about Christianity. A great article about the "Christian nation" notion shows us the U.S. is not a Christian nation and hopefully never will be.
