Planned Parenthood is Winning by Republican Default



When congress left Washington without a vote on the budget, an old bill defunding visits to women's clinics expired. This means the funding restarts. Anti-abortion groups are steaming mad.

Anti-abortionists have always tried to demonize Planned Parenthood. It was as if Planned Parenthood was the reason there are abortions. The reason there are abortions, of course, it because women want them. If it weren't Planned Parenthood running clinics it would be someone else. In fact there are groups right now that would step up if the market needed them.

One of the things that has always annoyed anti-abortion is that Planned Parenthood provides medical services to poor women. Anti-abortion assumes that revenue from these services funds abortions. So far as I know this is not true. It is just another preoccupation anti-abortion needs to get over.

Republicans in Congress went on break without reauthorization of the bill that harmed Planned Parenthood and poor women. It is obvious most of the Party does not care on twit about anti-abortion and knows anti-abortion's threats of withdrawing support are hallow. Right wing operatives are among to most incompetent in the U.S. They continually paint themselves into a political corner and then get mad at the paint.

Perhaps one day all the groups using anti-abortion for a pay day will be seen for the phonies that they are. Anti-abortion voters so far are suckers for the theory abortion can be eliminated. Instead it has expanded. When will they learn?

Ancient God, Bel (Baal), the Main Character in an Ancient Play

In a British museum is a preserved stone tablet from Babylon. It dates to about 2,000 BCE. Someone labored patiently to inscribe an entire passion play featuring the god Bel. I reiterate this is a stone tablet, not a recopied papyrus. The play begins with the god Bel arrested by soldiers and taken off the stage. He reappears at a trial in the Hall of Judgement. Bel is innocent but is sentenced to death. In the next scene Bel is accosted by a mob. He is despised and rejected. The actor playing Bel is then taken by guard to a hilltop in a sacred grove. Two criminals are taken with him. One of these is released. The the audience then leaves the theater and follows the actor Bel and his guards to the top of a hill where the death scene is enacted by hanging from a tree. Time to Forget the Christian Nation Thing

While women are forbidden from being priests/preachers in some branches of Christianity thank goodness they are not forbidden from writing and lecturing about Christianity.
