Things I did Not Know About Christianity

Readers know Christianity is a never ending variety of theories, rules and notions available for anyone to use for his/her own advantage. Today I learned this: the main points or principles of Christianity are, according to the bozo in the link, private property and church marriage. After decades of hearing about sin, crucifixion and heaven I had found something even stranger than those ideas.

I did not have enough interest in the link to read the attached scriptures. No doubt they say something about private property and marriage within the faith. The Bible has something for most everyone's point of view. But to say the hero of the Bible, Jesus, walked around the countryside talking about private property rights or the importance of marriage is a stretch.

I've seen the scripture where Jesus was supposed to have talked against wealth. He is quoted as saying the rich man is to give away his wealth. Are we to believe somewhere in the Bible's footnotes he also advised the rich man to hide some of his wealth in real estate because it appreciates?

And the claim that Jesus was big into marriage is an even bigger tale. By most, not all, accounts the character in the Bible known as Jesus never married. In fact, he was supposed to have scolded his merry band of apostles that they must abandon their wives and children to do what he wanted them to do. His message was, "My stuff is important. Yours is not."

All that said, it may be there is money in claiming Christianity is about private property and church marriages. There are people in these businesses, and they might be happy to pay for a holy endorsement.
