Can 220 Judges be wrong
Even though bad things happened at a rapid rate under Trump and corrections seem to be moving at a snail's pace, it could be corrections ultimately will prevail. An amazing 220 judges, including several Trump appointed, are condemning mass detentions. Could it be there are so many undocumented and pending cases it is impossible to enforce immigration policies?
This is what happens in lots of places. The speed limit past my home is 35 mph. I'm certain no one in the history of this city has been prosecuted for going 36 mpr. The economics and politics of running a city make it impossible to fine someone driving one mile an hour over the speed limit. Perhaps there are so many undocumented and pending people from other countries, and taxpayers having limited willingness to fund enough law enforcement to track them all down, many, maybe the majority, will live on in the U.S. illegally.
The idea of law enforcement rounding up and hauling off large numbers of people without due process seems far outside the box. That a President can manufacture a reason, national security, and have all the judicial systems buy it also seems impossible. Now perhaps we are seeing some push back.
It seems inevitable rounding up and hauling off people will run into the same obstacle as slavery/segregation and discrimination against gays and women ran into. Individual people, friends, family members, friends of friends, etc. are harmed and the simple notion of "bad" people and "good" people gets unclear. As Alex Haley ("Roots" observed, "Our country, every country, is made up of families." Eventually, this will be force that conservatives and haters will have to contend with.
