Mormon Male Leadership is Scrambling

As more women leave the Mormon church the male leadership seems to be asking, "Why is this? We've always said our women are beautiful. Yes, we had lots of rules for women that did not apply to men, but we men needed these rules and we tried to be fair to women. Don't women understand this? OK, we have to look at a few of rules we men established for our women." They have modified the uncomfortable and unattractive dress code for women's underwear.

The link shows that back in the 1960's the dress code for women was not much different than what non Mormon women wore. But in the following decades men decided women must not show their shoulders in public and their bottoms must be very covered. The result was hot, uncomfortable and sometimes unhealthy clothing. Recently, the exodus of women changed men's minds about the morality of these absurd dress codes. Tank tops are now allowable.

Other changes in Mormons over time included allowing black members and gays. There are regularly changes. Some ex Mormons chuckle over these changes. As a video pointed out, the head of the denomination, called a prophet, changes when a long-time man dies and a new one is chosen. The Prophet is the only person who talks to God and passes on to members what God says on issues. Often when there is a new Prophet there are a series of new rules. God now says women can wear tank tops. The ex Mormon in the video asked why God would tell one Prophet one thing and something different to a new Prophet?

Since Mitt Romney is out of politics we have not heard much about the Mormon practice of converting dead people to be Mormons. Apparently, he actually participated in such ceremonies but never wanted to talk about it much.

Like Catholics, Mormons claim they have millions of converts in other countries. One should always take such claims with a grain of salt. If it is easy for some branches of Christianity, Mormons and Catholics, to convert in other countries. it will be equally easy for some other group to convert again in the future. Money and power attract religions.
