Here is What Christians were Awarded by Voting for Trump
China has imposed a law against establishing new churches in China. Sarcastically, I'm calling for an "Amen."
The ban and the reason given is exactly what the Soviet Union did against Christianity prior to WWII. The Soviets did not like potential of religion to organize against the ruling party politically so they tried to stamp out Christianity.
I can't stop my own conspiracy thinking from lighting up. If you were China and had been planning for a response to a Trump trade war for some years, what tricks would be in your quiver? You would have studied where Trump's political support comes from and take that support away from him. Any student of elections can see Trump was really popular in rural areas where grain prices rule. The Chinese know the grain business. They started buying more grain from South American during Trump's first term and U. S. farmers have never gotten that market back. Now, they have all but stopped, or threatened to stop, buying any U.S. grain. Lower grain prices will lose Trump some votes.
Next the Chinese no doubt saw pictures of Trump praying with large groups of dufus preachers. They also read polling data showing Trump did well with people who frequently attend church. "Let's take that support away" they might have gleefully said. China probably has the largest population in the world of people who are not religious. If Christianity could snag even a small percentage of growth in China, it would reverse its falling numbers.
There was no need to infiltrate the U.S. to discourage Christianity, it was already falling by itself. Stop its growth in China because of Trump's tariffs and U.S. Christians will wonder why Trump is their guy. I'm looking for pictures of Republican opponents to Trump attending church and praying on camera. I'd not be surprised to see some Democrats doing that also. We might hear Trump opponents quoting from the Bible where it admonishes the faithful to evangelize.
I've read countless articles by conservatives telling us China is in no position to "win" against the powerful U. S. and Trump the "deal maker." They never mention erosion of political support among rural or Christian voters.
If this were a game of poker, it's clear that China has better cards.
