A Lutheran Church with Witches May Be Coming to Your Town

 


Did Martin Luther have in mind a church called "herchurch" with clergy who carry the title of "witch" or "goddess"? Martin had no use for Jews so I doubt he would have any tolerance for this San Francisco Lutheran Church. He has been dead for 400 years so whatever he thought doesn't matter. 

The church's website explains what it is all about. While most Christian churches could accurately carry the title "hischurch" because only males are allowed to be clergy, the title "herchurch" balances this gender issue. If some of the "hers" are trans, the balance is even better. 

It appears the church remains in good standing with the branch of Lutherans that founded it over 100 years ago. This tolerance could be a good thing to stem the falling membership in churches and denominations. Herchurch represents the majority gender of Christianity. Unfortunately it is not the majority of clergy.

My question is what does gender have to do with sin, salvation and the afterlife? The ideas of a God and all the rest of it could be gender neutral and still be the same. The appropriate role for men and women was introduced by men, not women. Men introduced it for their own selfish purposes. 

I'm somewhat curious about the sermons and teaching in herchurch. Perhaps it is on You Tube. I'm not curious enough to go to San Francisco to find out.

Who Suffers from a "Hardened Heart"

Some years ago on this blog there was a discussion about what the Bible calls "The hardened heart." The "hardened heart" was the explanation given for why people like me cannot accept the tenets of Christianity. We are unable to believe there are floating spirits and gods or imaginary places people go when the die. Now, a prominent Christian preacher and author has given us a way to diagnose the "hardened heart." It contained some surprises.  Rev. John Piper, who spoke about the hardened heart, said we can see this in a person who lacks "ordinary tenderness and compassion." Young Women can see Bull$hit a Mile Away

Republicans including their Forced Birth subgroup is bother by recent election results and polling. All show young women going to the left. A poll shows young women are 30% more likely to be very liberal than young men. The link advises the Forced Birth community to give young pregnant women an uplifting message. The message suggested is, "Buck up. You've got this. You can give birth and have a happy life." Another way of saying this is, "It will be OK if you miss work and/or are fired because of the birth. If you cannot make your rent payment, it's OK. Somewhere out there is another place to live. We don't know where but be optimistic."   This is an add on to the new version of the Forced Birth message, "We're for both the baby and the mother." They are not and never have been for the mother.
