Who Tells Trump About the Book of Revelations
I'm not tuned in well enough to the Bible to pick up Trump's use of this political technique. It's helpful when others pick up on this and tell us how the game is played. According to the link Trump portrays the country as a beautiful City on the Hill and immigrants a blight that needs to be removed. The City on the Hill is from Revelations. The smell of immigrants living in our City on the Hill is not in Revelations but added by Trump.
I can't think of another nationally prominent politician, even a very conservative one, who initiates references to the inferiority of other races the way Trump does. A few others pick up on what he says and agree but they don't go out of their way to bring up the topic as he does regularly. As some pundit said recently, Trump gives approval of racial and class prejudice.
We all know the racial thing is there, always has been. It's apparently present in every country and every subgroup within countries. I recall so long ago shortly after I was elected Mayor and was having new experiences. I had been asked to be on a radio talk show along with the Mayor of Moorhead at the time. We were discussing the fact that some areas of both our cities were looking a little worse for wear and what steps were needed to turn them around. A caller focused on me and said, "You know what the problem is. Do something about it." I asked him what problem he was referring to. He answered, "I don't have to say what it is. You know what it is and should get going to solve it." I was dumbfounded and we moved on. Later someone explain he was referring to people of Mexican heritage who were moving into our communities. I heard a steady stream of such remarks for the next 16 years.
Every read here knows European people marched into the American continent and brought disease, guns, death and poverty to the people who were already living here. This makes the Shining City on the Hill and Trump's racial prejudices more than a little embarrassing.
