Confessions of a Former Christian Nationalist
The liberal magazine, Mother Jones, published the apologies of a former Christian Nationalist. When on the inside of the corrupt efforts to put Christianity into government the author raised countless millions to stack the Supreme Court with anti abortion Christians and advance the political career of Donald Trump.
While his activities spilled into the House and Senate, his focus was on the Supreme Court. The operating mantra of his organization was that, while good Christian government was making strides among elected people in the Congress and Presidency, the Christian mission was being undercut by the Judicial branch. Christian Judges were badly needed.
The author formed an organization to put Christianity into the Supreme Court. While we know a little about the money and luxuries provided Clarence Thomas by those with cases pending, the author outlines the vast amounts of luxury provided all the conservative judges. There continues a steady stream of favors and gala events paid for by those who want Christian decisions in the court.
I don't know if the word "corrupt" is the correct one. But the Supreme Court certainly is not an "honest" place when judges are wined, dined and flown around tin private jets. After a lifetime of regarding the court as a source of long term wisdom and judgement what a let down. It is further alarming that the luxury favors done for judges came from what is supposed to be the source of high morals. What a joke it is when someone says of atheists, "You have no foundation of moral values.
The author went to graduate school and wrote a thesis on fascism in Germany. He came to see his effort to buy Christian influence on the Supreme Court was exactly what brought down Germany. He resigned his position. It took two years to shut down his terrible enterprise. His own personal income plummeted and he drives Uber some to support his family.
Any anti abortion Christian who wants to lecture about his high moral values, please do it somewhere else.
