Religious Genises Find Satanic Messages in the Popular Culture

When I saw the headline that Taylor Swift's performances of music had messages about Satanic rituals it reminded me of the how many times preachers/politicians who own a pulpit have thought they were brilliant at interpreting art. Of course, why shouldn't they think this when they have stood for hours in front of people telling them what "this scripture means."

I wish my brain were not so old and could remember all the times I've heard of preachers/politicians declaring this or that to be a Satanic or sin-filled message. Some come to mind. One was the famous song done by Peter, Paul and Mary, Puff the Magic Dragon. Neither the singers nor the composer knew Puff referred to illegal drugs. But some Christians knew. Probably there are religious people who blame all drug use on poor Puff.

Another whacko one was Jerry Falwell declaring that Tinky-Winky, a Teletubby character, was gay. It's not only that Tinky-Winky was gay, but Tinky-Winky was recruiting little children into a life of sin. Jerry had a powerful intellect.

There was another powerful intellectual who served as Reagan's Secretary of Interior. I met him, James Watt. He had insight into the evil influence of the Beach Boys. He ordered them cancelled for a big patriotic event, possibly the 4th of July. Nancy Reagan overruled.

But wait, there's more. A Republican Attorney General, John Ashcroft, noticed there were angel statues with breasts showing in the press conference room. The morality of the nation was saved by him, the statue's breasts were covered.

While we're at it, we need to recognize the sin of trans being forced onto children whenever a man in drag reads stories at the local library. We're looking for evidence on this. None yet.

Taylor Swift is a part of the great conspiracy to market sin that includes local school librarians who allow books in school libraries that discuss trans and gay life.

Without all of these people skilled at seeing sin behind every rock our country would be a sinful one. Let's hope they are unsuccessful, and we can all enjoy sin.
