Why Can't Wealthy Republican Donors Count Votes


Paul Krugman, an economist and columnist in the New York Times, reviewed the stupidity of big money Republicans today. What he wrote seems so self-evident it should not require an elementary school explanation. But brains that are dulled with too many years of success can be hard to penetrate. I'll review Krugman here.  

One can see the inability of big Republican donors to count votes here where I live in Iowa. A year or so ago a big batch of them signed on to the DeSantis campaign. DeSantis had a big staff. He, and I suppose his staff, jetted constantly across the country and even overseas. There was money for ads. Right now I get recorded calls daily telling me "Neverbackdown is holding an exciting event near you in Crossroads tomorrow. Govenor DeSantis will be there. Click here to reserve a free ticket." 

Many Million$ Big Money now recognizes DeSantis will lose. Their millions went down a rat hole. One pundit said his staff is in the "make the patient comfortable" phase. But ManyMillion$ still wants tax cuts and less regulation. Since Trump cannot help them nor can DeSantis maybe someone else can. 

So, Many Million$ has jumped to Hanley. She is not quite as abrasive and is Trump-lite. That means, ManyMillion$ concludes, she will get the nomination and beat Biden. Taxes will be lowered. Again, ManyMillion$ cannot count votes. 

There is an elephant in the room that will win or lose the election. It is Forced Birth. When Roe was overturned Trump was over. He lost the "Suburban Women", a term for men and women who demand abortion rights, in 2020. An old Biden should not have beaten Trump. Since then, the Court overturned Roe. Trump lost more independent and socially tolerant Republicans. He's done.

ManyMillion$ cannot see that DeSantis and Hanley are identical to Trump on Forced Birth. ManyMillion$ should be able to count the votes from 2020 and conclude there are no additional votes for them in 2024. 

Forced Birth has black-mailed ManyMillion$ for decades, "Give us anti gay and anti Abortion or we will not support your lower taxes/regulation Republican Party." Now, ManyMillion$ must black mail Forced Birth. It must see to it no Forced Birth Candidate, Trump or others in the clown car, wins. After some election cycles which make abortions more available than ever ManyMillion$ will build a Republican Party that will lower taxes/regulations. Then their world will be set right again. Counting votes wins elections.

The Religious Capitol Invaders May Yet Win

So much about U.S. society and religion can be learned from the Civil War and what happened afterwards. After its defeat, the South started a myth about the unethical soldiers from the North. The South fought for principles of God and states rights. The North did not. It was the South, this propaganda told the country, that had the high moral ground.  The Capitol invaders, encouraged by Trump, swallowed the myth that Biden's election was stolen. Father Frank Pavone, the Ultimate Crook

Recently, the Vatican defrocked Frank Pavone. His diehard fans are outraged. This is because he cleverly manipulated his fans and the press all the while living well from donations and, apparently, abusing some women. By making abortion the "sin" of the century, and himself the main opposition to this one sin, he himself could get away with any sin he pleased.  As the link points out, Pavone was the perfect priest for the Trump era.
