Take Down That Flag


Ron DeSantis is returning to Florida just in time to take down lots of rainbow flags. At least that's what his Republican legislature wants to do. A bill has been introduced that would closely regulate when and where this expression of gender equality could be displayed in Florida. Any public buildings, elementary schools on up, no rainbow flags.

It's fun to speculate on what how a "rainbow flag" would be defined. Would it be any flag with more than two or three colors? Is white as in red, white and blue a color? And if these three are the only colors allowed could someone mix these colors and come up with several different ones that would like look just like the rainbow one? Like all the stuff DeSantis spent time on, Disney, woke, etc., killing off the rainbow flags is REALLY an important issue. Why not get to the point? Require every public building to have a sign, Florida Hates Gays and be done with it.

DeSantis and his legislative lackies have a lot of work to do. On Florida gay sites, Miami gay bars advertise that Miami is the gay capitol of the U. S. If Florida is going to be where "woke goes to die," Miami has not gotten the message. It's where woke goes to thrive. 

The legislators seem to like the POW/MIA flags. Maybe these flags could be flown next to the U.S. flag but unpatriotic and mischievous people could staple a little rainbow on the corner. Another option might be to have a white flag with heavy black words, "RAINBOW FLAG." It would carry the same message but not anger Jesus because so far as we know Jesus was not literate would be unable to read it.   

Another thing being prohibited in DeSantis' Florida are pronouns different than that assigned on a birth certificate. The term "they" is often used to refer to someone who does not identify as either male or female. Will the word "they" be illegal to use in any context in Florida schools? The sentence, "They are coming," for example, does not designate whether those coming are male or female. Maybe required will be, "the boys are coming," "the girls are coming" or "the boys and girls are coming.?"

Messages on kid's T shirts is also a matter the Florida legislature is discussing. DeSantis needs to provide leadership there. Will public schools require uniforms with the words, "Florida, Where Woke Goes to Die?" We'll all be watching Florida.

The Religious Capitol Invaders May Yet Win

So much about U.S. society and religion can be learned from the Civil War and what happened afterwards. After its defeat, the South started a myth about the unethical soldiers from the North. The South fought for principles of God and states rights. The North did not. It was the South, this propaganda told the country, that had the high moral ground.  The Capitol invaders, encouraged by Trump, swallowed the myth that Biden's election was stolen. Thus, they think they held and still hold the high moral ground. This was reinforced by the cross and prayers during the invasion. Father Frank Pavone, the Ultimate Crook

Recently, the Vatican defrocked Frank Pavone. His diehard fans are outraged. This is because he cleverly manipulated his fans and the press all the while living well from donations and, apparently, abusing some women. By making abortion the "sin" of the century, and himself the main opposition to this one sin, he himself could get away with any sin he pleased.  As the link points out, Pavone was the perfect priest for the Trump era.
