Geater the Risk in Pregnancy, Fewer Women Will Get Pregnant

A survey reveals young women calculate carefully the risks to their lives when considering pregnancy. The increased risk of death in pregnancy is persuading increasing numbers of women not to get pregnant. Decisions not to get pregnant are happening in both states with liberal choice laws and ones which are prohibiting abortions.  Any woman who travels knows she will be risking her life is she is in a state with bad health services to women when something goes wrong. Young women are smarter than the old white men who are trying to run women's lives.

One has to assume the same calculation is made for unplanned pregnancies. The cost of giving birth and raising a child are one or two hundred thousand. Getting in the car and driving to an abortion friendly state next to nothing in comparison.

I've never understood why the clergy hierarchy of the Catholic Church could not see the simple math of their own self-interest. Of course, they understand that more babies in the church might mean more Catholics and thus better opportunities for themselves. But they don't connect the dots between money, mortality in birth and raising children. The higher the risk to women and the higher cost to women of giving birth means fewer births. It's Jr. High math.

Smarter operators would have worked to build in public funding for supporting birth and child care. This would be annoyed the low tax branch of the Republican Party. Catholic Clergy have burned bridges between themselves and liberal Democrats who might give more public money for births and child care. Conservative Catholic clergy have never heard of the "long game." Do they think that by refusing to give Communion to Biden and Pelosi they are making political progress with Democrats?

I'm predicting that in the 2024 election and for some to follow we will see women voting in bigger numbers than ever before and will be supporting women's interests. I'll go further and predict the conservatives in both Protestantism and Catholicism will continue not to understand what is happening.
