Republicans, Marg Taylor Greene Assures You "God Has a Plan"


Greene has run out the oldest con in the Christian playbook. It goes by slightly different names, "God Has a Plan," "Pray" and "Prayer Works." Instead of doing something about a problem it is easier to "pray."

We have Governors in drought states praying for rain. On the eve of elections Pat Robertson urged prayer for Republicans. Terminally ill patients pray for recovery. I have known Christians who went bankrupt and said it was good because "God has a plan for me." Now Trump appears in deep du du and, instead of saying "Admit you are both wrong and stupid and take consequences" some Christians make matters worse by continuing to say things that are not true or blame political opponents who had no part of the scandal.

Greene and the cast of characters that have endorsed Trump's lie about the 2020 election seem to have no clue that voiding an election could be done against them if the tables are turned. Their thinking is as shallow as the anti-abortion cult who did not see women turning out in droves to vote for Democrats after the repeal of Roe. What seemed like an inevitable reaction to those of us on the other side seemed impossible to the Anti-Abortion cabal. 

Some Christian celebs share with us what God's plan is. Pat Robertson shared with us Trump would be reelected. A day or two later he said he had misjudged the information God had shared with him. If Taylor Greene would share what God's plan is we could take a look and judge for ourselves. I never hear the likes of Taylor Greene or Pat Robertson tell us God told them Democrats would take the President, House and Senate. For some reason when God knows Republicans are going to lose he never shares it.

One thing Taylor Greene did not mention was that using Trump's indictments at a fund-raising tool seems to have diminishing returns. The second indictment raised far less money than the first. Maybe God will ramp up the donations this time. If he doesn't, that was not God's plan. Trump is burning through cash at an unbelievable rate so some prayer is needed.

One thing Trump wants badly is the prosecution of Hunter Biden. For some reason God has shown to interest in that. Maybe Taylor Greene knows something is coming.

The Religious Capitol Invaders May Yet Win

So much about U.S. society and religion can be learned from the Civil War and what happened afterwards. After its defeat, the South started a myth about the unethical soldiers from the North. The South fought for principles of God and states rights. The North did not. It was the South, this propaganda told the country, that had the high moral ground.  The Capitol invaders, encouraged by Trump, swallowed the myth that Biden's election was stolen. Thus, they think they held and still hold the high moral ground. This was reinforced by the cross and prayers during the invasion. Father Frank Pavone, the Ultimate Crook

Recently, the Vatican defrocked Frank Pavone. His diehard fans are outraged. This is because he cleverly manipulated his fans and the press all the while living well from donations and, apparently, abusing some women. By making abortion the "sin" of the century, and himself the main opposition to this one sin, he himself could get away with any sin he pleased.  As the link points out, Pavone was the perfect priest for the Trump era.
