Watch Israel, See the Future U.S.


The current government of Israel wants to take away the powers of its courts. That way, the government is not hampered by laws and precedence. There are protests across Israel against this. Not only is the right-wing government of Israel complaining about protestors, so are right wing protestants in the U.S. A marriage of government and the "correct" religion is the way to run things properly in the eyes of right-wing U.S. religion.

Jews face a future of being a minority in Israel. It is important to them they do not let the institutions of democracy take powers from the minority of voters and give them to the majority. That is why the courts, if they even function, must be controlled by the minority.

Here is the U.S., the majority vote for candidates from the Democratic Party. It is important for the minority party to not let the majority have the most representatives. Gerrymandering house districts is one way to prevent the majority of voters from winning elections. Trump is still talking about using the Republican majority in some states to decide how the electoral college representative vote. They may choose to ignore the outcome of an election. 

Our Constitution wisely includes equal treatment of minorities. It does not give minorities the right to determine the outcome of elections. This is what the current government of Israel and Christian nationalists in the U.S. want. 

We saw a judge who is only interested in politics and has no interest in the law or justice this week. A Federal judge declared a drug used to induce abortion banned. He did not present a legal reason for the ban but instead made up a "fact" that the drug is untested and/or dangerous. This is exactly a world where there is no legal system. The judge was simply carrying out a political mission and ignored the legal mission. 

This is exactly the Israel desired by its current government and that of some branches of Christian nationalism in the U.S.

    Good post Jon. Netanyahu is charged with corruption and seeks to neuter the courts to save his ass. Damn that sounds familiar. The Donald, truth be told more corrupt than Bibi, sought to stack the courts in his favor to save his ass. They are tyrants-in-law. In terms of annexing other people’s territory, the Israeli’s are as guilty as old “Pooty”. Then you got our guy who wanted to nuke a hurricane and thought perhaps ingesting disinfectants could cleanse Covid victims of the virus. And to think these devils have starring roles in God’s Plan? Poppycock.

      Thanks, Ardy B -- It's amazing to me the Republican Party would support judges who are proud they ignore facts and evidence. It was their own famous President, Ronald Reagan, who when dealing with the Soviets on reducing nuclear weapons said, "Trust, but verify." Now his Grand Old Party GOP, is the Party of Known Liars, PKL.

      Any god would know it’s a man’s plan y’all. So much hostility finds refuge in religion. Always has I guess.

Who Suffers from a "Hardened Heart"

Some years ago on this blog there was a discussion about what the Bible calls "The hardened heart." The "hardened heart" was the explanation given for why people like me cannot accept the tenets of Christianity. We are unable to believe there are floating spirits and gods or imaginary places people go when the die. Now, a prominent Christian preacher and author has given us a way to diagnose the "hardened heart." It contained some surprises.  Rev. John Piper, who spoke about the hardened heart, said we can see this in a person who lacks "ordinary tenderness and compassion." Young Women can see Bull$hit a Mile Away

Republicans including their Forced Birth subgroup is bother by recent election results and polling. All show young women going to the left. A poll shows young women are 30% more likely to be very liberal than young men. The link advises the Forced Birth community to give young pregnant women an uplifting message. The message suggested is, "Buck up. You've got this. You can give birth and have a happy life." Another way of saying this is, "It will be OK if you miss work and/or are fired because of the birth. If you cannot make your rent payment, it's OK. Somewhere out there is another place to live. We don't know where but be optimistic."   This is an add on to the new version of the Forced Birth message, "We're for both the baby and the mother." They are not and never have been for the mother.
