Anti-Abortion Politicians Could Learn from Women in Iran and Afghanistan

The colleagues of anti-abortion politicians are the religious politicians in Iran, Afghanistan and other like countries. Some similar countries in the immediate past were Ireland and Chile.

During 20212022 six different countries liberalized abortion. The power of women prevailed over that of dufus men.

There has been lots of news lately about women in Iran casting off their head scarves in defiance of religious leaders and their laws. From what I've read, the government has admitted defeat.

Only occasionally is there news about education of women in Afghanistan. When the Taliban retook power from the sad government George W. Bush thought he would put in place, Taliban leaders remembered only how things were when they were in power years earlier. Back then, they prohibited schools for girls. They declared they would reinstate this ban and things would return to how they had been earlier.

But, women had seen opportunities while the U.S. was running things. They had obtained college degrees and taken on high levels of responsibility in business and government. When educated women were banned from the work force they started secret schools for girls. Apparently, there are hundreds of these schools which are located in homes and mostly function in ways not detected by the religious government. Only a few have been prosecuted.

In a Wall Street Journal investigative piece I read today one of the teachers said, "I'm building an Afghanistan for the future. If they want to arrest me for this, go ahead."

To me, the attitude of women across the globe is they will take far more risks than religious officials expect. When they do this, it throws dufus male authorities off their game. They had not planned nor have the resources to enforce restrictions on women when women stage large scale defiance.

The size of resistance against abortion prohibitions in the U.S. is not yet know. All we know is there are many women secretly distributing abortion causing medications and we know roughly the decrease in surgical abortions. The decrease in surgical abortions for women in states like Texas and Mississippi is down less than 10%. Women are going out of state and getting medical abortions.

If women in the U.S. are as determined as those in countries around the world, "good luck" to the dufus religious men who think they can stop abortions.
