Trump Now Blames Anti Abortion for 2022 Republican Losses

In one of his social media posts, Trump said the election losses in 2022 were not his fault. Instead, he said, they happened because anti-abortion politics went "too far" in restricting abortions. Trump, who has always seems a few ounces lite in brain cells, does not seem to recognize that his own appointees on the Supreme Court are the single reason some states have put into place draconian laws against abortion.

What Trump pushed along was a view of society that is not reality based. An incumbent House member from Michigan who was defeated in the primary by a Trump Republican then watched that Republican be defeated by a Democrat. He made the observation Democrats have a more accurate view of reality than most Republicans at this time.

Today I'm watching the Republicans in the House try to pick their leader of the House. A few pundits are pointing out the Republican Party put itself in this dilemma by opposing abortion. As a result, some House races were expected to go to Republicans went to Democrats. This left House Republicans with fewer votes and the split resulted. This remains another separation from reality. Reality is abortion is essential and supported by the majority of U.S. voters. All the chest beating by religious conservatives do not change this. Even Donald Trump understands this.

A majority of the public support abortion rights. Republican state legislators have been able to design districts to favor themselves. This worked OK until they imposed their religious will on women and men who want abortions to be available. Even districts that have been reliably Republican slipped away over this issue.

One pundit I read on the web said the truth is Trump has never actually believed a human life begins at conception. I saw an interview with him when much younger where he said he suggested an abortion with his second wife.

Trump throws supporters under the bus often. Now it is anti-abortion's turn.

  1. There are numerous pro-life victories across the country. For these, I am thankful. Roe is no longer in effect. There are no more abortions in North Dakota.

    1. Matt-- "There are no more abortions in North Dakota."

I would guess the number of abortions obtained by women in ND has ticked up slightly because the new facility, a few minutes east of the old one, is more convenient. Nevertheless, thank you for your comment. It is always entertaining to hear from the land of make believe.
