The Right's Desire to Regulate Your Life Will Not Stop Until We Stop It

The passion to regulate the lives of everyone else is on full display. Across the country religious zealots are trying to limit women from getting abortions. They are trying to claim they are personally affected by the abortions of others when they are not. It's as if when one person thinks favorably about abortion another's religion is offended.

Where I live the right-wing governor has had a full court press for giving millions of dollars to families whose children attend religious schools. The governor herself hates gay and trans and wants abortions banned. While I assume she thinks private/religious schools will teach her religious views she might be surprised if schools more liberal than public schools pop up and take her money.

The link talks of efforts to stop female soldiers from abortion access in military hospitals. Why would we not encourage pregnant military personnel from getting abortions? Getting an abortion keeps her on the job and saves us taxpayer money.

One of the promising signs is the drop in church numbers. In addition, those who stay in church are ignoring the ideas pushed there. Catholics who want to practice birth control are simply ignoring what their church teaches and are dropping out of it. One way to interpret falling church attendance numbers is that anti birth control is pushing people out of the church. Already the Pope is punishing clergy who talk to bluntly against abortion. Maybe it will drop out of Catholic site in time.

The thing is, if a gay couple lives across the street from a right-wing church it doesn't affect the church or its members. If there are thousands of gay people in the same thing it doesn't affect it either. The gay world can live on and so can the church if they stay out of each other's lives. Part of the Christian world, however, wants to cross the street and get into a fight about gays and abortions. This will continue until they are unsuccessful and go away.

  1. Ah! Hell Jon, may I kickoff the weekend with a wee diatribe in the spirit of “… Until We Stop It”.

Kingdom-minded Christian culture warriors are doing the work of their very own “Satan”. Together they want dominion over religion, family, education, government, media, arts & entertainment, and business. But look in their morality mirror. It lies. They are the unregenerate.

The cavalier treatment of others by these reenergized Christian prigs has gone too far. Their sincerely held religious beliefs are imposing a substantial burden on members of my family. To that I say, do not tread on me or mine. We are vigilant and prepared to act in defense of our sincerely held secular beliefs.

Until we meet on the field then.

    1. Thank you, Ardy. -- Yes, we have our fair share of those who want to guide the thoughts and lives of others. Don't say gay. Don't say trans. Don't tell any young woman the phone number of an abortion clinic. These directives came from God. For some reason we did not hear God say all this. How can it be some hear God others, like myself, never hear a peep from him?

    2. this would be good for a guffaw if the subject were not as serious as it is. old Jon -- a hopeless captive of the modern leftist mindset -- is the last person who should complain about people who seek to impose thier views on others. consider the bucket list of intensive and invasive practices that the leftist crowd would, if it could, impose on the rest of us. gems ranging from the use of "proper" pronouns to EVs on dealer's lots. and a whole pastel of stuff in between. seems that imposing values on others only applies when so called right wingers attempt to do it. what should I call such mental gymnastics: stupidity? or hypocrisy?

  2. tsm-- "is the last person who should complain about people who see to impose their views on others.."

There is a difference between what the left wants to accomplish in society and that of the right. The left wants policy based on rational information. The right wants policy based on religious myths.

    1. tsm "obviously not so"

You have never offered, even attempted, to address the evidence of rapid climate change. Please either offer some evidence it is not happening rapidly than ever in the past or refrain from posting.
