The Religious Right Will Retreat When Woman Go to Jail

I've been writing here since forever that women who get abortions will be sent to jail if the forced-birth segment of Christianity and U.S. politics prevails. This idea was scoffed in the comments of this blog at first. No, it was said, the woman is not held responsible. She is a victim. The huge "abortion industry" caused her to have an abortion.

This scheme, making medical professionals the scapegoat was developed because abortions were done at specific locations by specific professionals. Demonization of this small group was attractive and easy. Now pills arrive in the U.S. from all over the world. The pills and the abortion take place in the woman's home. The villains, once easily identified, have now vanished into thin air.

That the woman is not responsible was bull $hit/propaganda from the religious right from day one. It came out of the Catholic hierarchy and was glopped onto by the Protestant right. We all know the truth, that women are the ones who make the decision about abortion, not doctors or abortion clinics. To be in favor of laws against abortions is to put women in jail. It is already happening in various local areas and is inevitable in states prohibiting abortions.

I think our country's founding fathers did not establish a national religion because they could see religion has no brakes. There is nothing in religion that says, "We've carried this argument far enough; we need to hold back on the control of people." Various surviving letters and speeches of the founding fathers indicated this characteristic of religion concerned them.

Catholic clergy leadership did not and still does not understand they could not control the narrative. Perhaps they thought, "If we tell politicians women are not to be held responsible they will obey us." Those clergy did not realize everyone makes up his own religion, including politicians. Clergy did not put themselves in the shoes of politicians. Politicians do not have the luxury of making no sense whatsoever--when women are obviously making the decisions there is no choice but to make them criminals. Now, politicians in some states are writing legislation making women criminals for having abortions.  Catholic/Protestant clergy left them no out.

There always was and continues to be an out. It is possible to be dead set against abortion but not put women in jail. I am absolutely certain the public eventually will see this out and it will be forced into religious circles. It is to be against abortion but also be against a legal prohibition. Leaving religion at the state house door is the only answer.

"Mama's in jail" is not what children should have to reveal to their friends if the issue is merely a disagreement over religion.

  1. If you are a true Atheist, why are you obsessed with Christianity? Your obsession with Christians demonstrates that you do have a relationship with Christianity. You never write about other religions. Religions that are against abortion, gay people, and ones that do female castration. I think your religion is Christianity, since you spend so much of your time talking about it. Whatever you are obsessed with, that is your "God". If you cannot stop posting about Christianity, you are a slave to Christianity.

    1. Anonynous--"...why ae you obsessed with Christianity?"

This is an old post, been posted many times. I've explained every time I don't post about other religions because other religions are not trying constantly to put their beliefs into our laws. If other religions started doing this I would post negative things about them. If Christianity would stop doing this I would not point out its many flaws.
