Are Witchcraft, Ouija Boards and Tarot Cards Selling Better Than Jesus

It is claimed by some Christians that these "spiritual" rituals, witchcraft, Ouija and tarot cards, are growing in popularity with young people as Christianity shrinks. It is almost humorous that a Christian "therapist" says in the link this is happening because people want "control over their lives." Control over death is exactly what Christianity uses as its marketing schtick. Control over everyone and every thing around him/her is central to Christianity. Anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage are real-time examples of the passion for control over others.

I would agree it is not productive to spend time and money on make-believe worlds. Ouija Boards and tarot cards are no more reality than is God, heaven or hell. Those who believe in God, however, have a lot of money to push their fantasies into the public realm. By comparison, there is no National Church of Tarot Cards with lobbyists in DC and Trump-like fund raising. Tarot Card readers are not selecting judges for the Supreme Court.

Instead of attacking the witch/Ouija/tarot card people are "enemies" and tools of Satan, why don't religious operatives invite them to their interfaith conferences. I've seen the Pope hugging some really weird branches of Christianity. I don't remember ever seeing him hug a goth. Leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention could benefit with some face to face gathering with witch/Ouija and tarot card people. The Southern Baptists could ask, "Do you spiritual beings really seem real to you?" The goth could ask in return, "Does your imaginary God really seem real to you?"

Strange as it may seem to Christian believers today, the witch/Ouija/tarot card faiths have longer history than does Christianity. The Hindu faith is far older as well. If longevity is a criterion for "real" than Christianity does not come in first.

Games of chance, including the Lottery, are close to Ouija and tarot cards. Millions of time each day, I'm certain a Christian buys a lottery ticket and then prays to God for the win. This prayer is at the same time that others not win.

If the world of occult is growing at the expense of Christianity not much will change. It will be simply one set of imaginary spirits is being replaced with others.
