Pentecostals on Jan. 6 Illustrate Why Christianity is Dangerous to the U.S.
To say there was a plan to overthrow our government on Jan. 6th is not a conspiracy theory nor hyperbolical drama. It is grounded in publicly stated views from a branch of Christianity, a subset of Pentecostalism. The evening before Jan. 6th, Jan. 5th, a religious rally was held near the Capitol. Present were members of this sect and the symbol of physical warfare, the shofar. The shofar, a ramshorn, is thought of as a musical instrument of the Jewish faith. Biblical mythology tells of it being carried in the Battle of Jericho.
Why is the shofar, then, part of a Protestant cult's public message? Because it is seen as a call to physical battle against the sins of liberals. Donald Trump is the commander of the battle against the liberal forces of evil. The shofar horn was sounded the night before the invasion and the next day inside the Capitol as well.
These Pentecostals were drawn to Trump when he first showed up in politics. They are outsiders trying to destroy the harmful status quo. Trump said that is himself as well.
It's almost humorous for the rest of us to point out Trump is a liar, unfaithful to wives, sexual opportunist and low life cheat in business. This is exactly the kind of leader these Pentecostals crave, The leader with a fallen past is what the Bible portends. He, like they, have nothing to lose in the looming battle. They already see themselves as outsiders looking in. Pentecostal Preacher Paula White was at his side from the beginning.
These Pentecostals live in the "perpetual now." The Bible talks of unknown languages. They speak in tongues.
There is no indication Pentecostal support of Trump has weakened in the least. To me, it's almost a joke other Republicans are seeking the nomination or supporting someone other than Trump.
Other Christians can say this group of Pentecostals is not the "real Christianity" or is an aberration within the faith. They, of course, think of themselves as the only true faith. They belong to the Christian genre. If you are a Christian of any stripe you are they and they are you.
January 6th illustrates why Pentecostals are dangerous to the US.

DeleteIn addition to all the above, the Pentecostals and others such as many Baptists, (Hagee) that are heavily invested in Christian Zionism, and participate in US Zionism politics geared to support Israel, to facilitate the building of the third temple in Jerusalem, so Jesus has a place to rule from for a thousand years. ( on the temple mount) AKA Premelanian dispensationalism. Those of the Muslim tradition would revolt.

Just like a little priest "father James" a few years ago on Jon's blog who provided a list of those who were caught in child sexual abuse and said they were from my church, or denomination I responded name by name, from those he provided, and situation, proving not one was from my church. More conflation. He didn't have the integrity to do the research. The priest did not respond, or admit false witness. He should go see his confessor. He was so arrogant I doubt he did. Another form of pietism.

Now there’s an ancient recipe for disaster right here in the “perpetual now”. Why in hell would a God worth a damn need these guys. It should slap some sense into them and get on with It’s holy mischief. Perhaps the Good News is “fake news” and Christianity the “deep state”. Can’t say for sure but it could happen.

See John 3; 16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." The Gospel in a nutshell, and following verses.

He got his wrist slapped. However, the 72 year old J6er who had to find a bathroom and was waved into an open door of the Capitol by Capitol police is still rotting. You won’t find that on the news before Wheel of Fortune. I stopped listening to that divisive propaganda twenty years ago. Some like it.
