What Has Been the Most Devastating Real World Discovery for Christianity


So much of the Bible has been found to be B.S. it's almost hard to where to start. Recently, a prominent atheist declared it was evolution.

We now know through DNA that there were several origins of humans, not just one. This makes the Adam and Eve story complete fiction. If Adam and Eve never existed what does that do to the Christian narrative? Or, it could be asked, is there anything left of the Christian narrative if there never was an Adam and Eve?

If fun to think of all the junk that comes from that story. It started "sin." Sin exists because Eve persuaded Adam to eat the forbidden fruit. This, after being warned by a talking snake, but that's another bonkers story in Christianity. 

If there was no Adam and Eve, there was no original sin. If there was no original sin we are not born sinners. If we are not born sinners we don't need any forgiveness. If we don't need any forgiveness, we don't need a god or a representative from the god central offices, the clergy. Without Adam and Eve the entire Christian house of cards comes down. The blackmail bluff has been called.

Besides that, without an Adam and Eve, what good is the Resurrection? The Christian claim is Jesus died to forgive our sins. Without Adam and Eve, what sins did he die for? And, what is a sin? 

As I understand it, there are Protestant branches, maybe Catholics as well, who think they have talked their way out of this problem. There was both evolution and God, they say. God directed evolution. I assume they are required to hang onto Adam and Eve because without them and the original sin they have no way of scaring people into tithing. Sin is every the key to the Christian faith. The door cannot be unlocked without it.

The Religious Capitol Invaders May Yet Win

So much about U.S. society and religion can be learned from the Civil War and what happened afterwards. After its defeat, the South started a myth about the unethical soldiers from the North. The South fought for principles of God and states rights. The North did not. It was the South, this propaganda told the country, that had the high moral ground.  The Capitol invaders, encouraged by Trump, swallowed the myth that Biden's election was stolen. Thus, they think they held and still hold the high moral ground. This was reinforced by the cross and prayers during the invasion. Father Frank Pavone, the Ultimate Crook

Recently, the Vatican defrocked Frank Pavone. His diehard fans are outraged. This is because he cleverly manipulated his fans and the press all the while living well from donations and, apparently, abusing some women. By making abortion the "sin" of the century, and himself the main opposition to this one sin, he himself could get away with any sin he pleased.  As the link points out, Pavone was the perfect priest for the Trump era. Trump is so self-important laws have no role in his life. He felt accountable to no one. Women were there to be had. Pavone and Trump are interchangeable.  Pavone was very successful raising money.
