Some Catholics Brag About Growth in China. It's Government Did not get the Message

There are many stories in the news about a crackdown by the Chinese government on Christianity. We have to acknowledge China is a huge place and news stories in one place may not reflect what is going on everywhere. But it is certain the government does not intend to tolerate a huge Christian presence.

Today's news about crackdowns in China is in sharp contrast to claims by the Catholic church itself that Catholic numbers are rising sharply there. In my opinion, this happy talk from publicity arms of the Catholic hierarchy is being pumped out to offset the decline of Catholics in many parts of the world.

According to the link there are Catholics in China who support the Pope and don't want the Chinese government to insert itself into the faith. Another group wants the government regulating the faith. Still others identify with a thread called Catholicism that is in neither camp. Calling all three groups as "Catholic" is a bit of a stretch. It's rightly called "happy talk."

The government has said it does not want children to be indoctrinated as Catholic or Christian of any brand. Indoctrinating children is the favorite game of Christians and communists alike. It's a little sad to think of all kinds of groups all over the world posed to jump on children and try to steal them away from other groups. Fortunately, lots of this comes to ends not anticipated with children growing up and going in a different direction that schemers had in mind for them. I wonder how many billions and been spent and are continued to be spent paying Christian missionaries to live outside their own countries. Of course, some of this is just marketing to the locals who want to pay for something like this and do not know nothing much comes of it.

Jesus supposedly took a whip to sinners exchanging currency. Lion handlers carry a whip when they work with the big cats. People who want to be left alone and not bothered by missionaries and such should carry whips and keep the Christians in their metaphorical cages.

Bragging about the grow of Catholics or other Christians in other places in the world does not make it so.
