As Predicted, Miscarriage Care is Being Threatened

I've written here for years about the threat to women's health caused by dumping Roe. It is about miscarriage. Now the problem is happening. Doctors in Texas are unsure whether they should or can care for a woman when they learn her pregnancy was terminated out of his sight.

I've read several places that when a woman who has had a terminated pregnancy, the fetus is gone, an examination does not reveal any hint as to whether it happened because of a spontaneous miscarriage or an abortion. All the doctor can do is turn the case over to local police or the sheriff. That has already happened in some cases.

A columnist in the New York Times explained yesterday what I have written here many times. The government "would need access to...all histories, text messages, medical records, bank statements, social media and location data." The released draft from the Supreme Court made clear no women was given the right in the Constitution to abortion. Apparently, no woman will have rights to privacy of any kind either.

Let's take a hypothetical. If a woman's legal record shows she had an illegal abortion and becomes pregnant again, will she be put in jail until the birth happens? I'm guessing yes.

That care for women who had miscarriages has been scoffed at for years by the anti-abortion cult. I recall a commenter here writing, "An abortion is a murder. A miscarriage is just a miscarriage. They have nothing in common." Dream on.

In addition, the dance the anti abortion cult does with blaming women continues. There is a myth the entire political effort is directed at people who make abortions possible. I don't know how many times I've heard, "Women are victims." Step by step, they are putting aside the women as victims and moving to make women criminals. They are indifferent to the rights of women, always have been, always will be.

Two kinds of news stories are mostly being ignored right now. One is this one, care for women who miscarry. The other is women getting abortions even when not legal. When the news is filled with these two items instead of how the votes will be casted and the politics of it all, political mountains will move.

  1. Lots of the financial opportunities for an interstate anti-abortion industrial complex, with a comprehensive dedicated fetal justice system complete with its own surveillance, enforcement, and incarceration units, an aggressive prosecutorial division, and a unique network of abortion courts where female suspects are guilty until proven innocent. The anti-abortion industry reeks of male chauvinism.
