The Abortion Underground is on the Move


 

An article in the famous The Atlantic illustrated a simple mechanism to perform a medical abortion. Using the term "medical" abortion is a bit misleading because no professional medical institutions are involved. It is an apparatus used only in the underground.

It is an overstatement to say no medical personnel are involved. The group called midwives trained in giving birth includes many abortion rights women. My understanding is midwives operate a bit more under the radar and will play a big role in making abortions available if and when Roe is reversed. 

A few years before the Roe decision, the simple suction device used for at home abortions had been developed by an abortion rights woman. She had traveled non stop around the country training women in the use of the device. More recently, the device has been upgraded and experiments and design changes are on going.  

The anti abortion political operatives I've known seem like Putin. At least, they seem like the Putin we think we know through his actions. Putin thought his cause was so just opposition would recognize the error their thinking. He thought his numbers and army were so great opposition would see the futility of resisting.

Anti abortion people are so confident of their righteousness they are certain women will voluntarily go under their thumb of control. Women will understand their sin and repent. 

Instead, women are putting up resistance that is unprecedented. Women are more determined to get abortions now than they were before Roe. Several demographic developments fuel this new determination. The percentage of women who work outside of the home is much greater. The opportunities for professional advance are now greater for women. 

Knowledge of science and the technology to spread this knowledge is far more advanced. While pills will be an ever-increasing way to get an abortion, medical abortions done by friends, family and underground professionals will outrun religious fervor.

Who Suffers from a "Hardened Heart"

Some years ago on this blog there was a discussion about what the Bible calls "The hardened heart." The "hardened heart" was the explanation given for why people like me cannot accept the tenets of Christianity. We are unable to believe there are floating spirits and gods or imaginary places people go when the die. Now, a prominent Christian preacher and author has given us a way to diagnose the "hardened heart." It contained some surprises.  Rev. John Piper, who spoke about the hardened heart, said we can see this in a person who lacks "ordinary tenderness and compassion." Young Women can see Bull$hit a Mile Away

Republicans including their Forced Birth subgroup is bother by recent election results and polling. All show young women going to the left. A poll shows young women are 30% more likely to be very liberal than young men. The link advises the Forced Birth community to give young pregnant women an uplifting message. The message suggested is, "Buck up. You've got this. You can give birth and have a happy life." Another way of saying this is, "It will be OK if you miss work and/or are fired because of the birth. If you cannot make your rent payment, it's OK. Somewhere out there is another place to live. We don't know where but be optimistic."   This is an add on to the new version of the Forced Birth message, "We're for both the baby and the mother." They are not and never have been for the mother.
