The Abortion Underground is Amazing




It turns out there are many more ways to get abortion than I knew about. When abortions are not legal in several states they will be available in many forms, some legal and some not. Before Roe, some women traveled all around the U. S. explaining the device pictured above. It is made from a few off-the-shelf items and costs $10 or so. Once women receive instructions on how to use it, either in person or on line, they can give each other or themselves abortions. Today, women have started traveling the country again giving instructions on how to make and use the device. It is called the Del-Em. 

Also developing is a pipeline of abortion medicine from Mexico. While lots of it can be mailed, anti abortion nutcakes want to intercept it in the Post Office system. For this reason, plans are underway for people to walk into the U.S. with the medicine. Others would quickly move it around the country. 

Different suction devices are being mass produced and sold at low cost. The devices can remove a fetus quickly and safely. Many abortions have been completed, perhaps millions, using simple devices or medicines. Abortions performed without professional personnel are not ideal, but giving birth is a dangerous event. The trade off is not a bad.

There are also innovations to provide abortions with professional personnel. Sometimes these are doctors and sometimes mid wives and nurses. One big project is buying lots of vans and outfitting them as traveling abortion clinics. The plan is to have the vans moving just across the borders from states that outlaw abortions. Appointments and locations will be handled on line. The thinking is these vans will stop only briefly and move on. This will reduce the expected harassment from anti abortion wing nuts. 

Anti abortion zealots fully expect law enforcement to track down and eliminate abortions when and where they are illegal. While it could be some state and local taxes will be raised to hire the personnel  required to tamp down on the many methods and locations of abortions, this has not been the experience in countries where abortion is or was illegal. Its easier for politicians to talk up their anti abortion views than to put in place an expensive program to catch and prosecute women for their abortions. 

An exciting time is ahead. Women's rights groups will count on supporters like me to donate money to keep legal and illegal abortions available.

There is an incredible story about the Argentine Bishop Zanchetta. The Pope worked with him in Argentina and they are considered friends. Around 2015 Zanchetta sent nude pictures of himself and they began circulating world wide. Who Suffers from a "Hardened Heart"

Some years ago on this blog there was a discussion about what the Bible calls "The hardened heart." The "hardened heart" was the explanation given for why people like me cannot accept the tenets of Christianity. We are unable to believe there are floating spirits and gods or imaginary places people go when the die. Now, a prominent Christian preacher and author has given us a way to diagnose the "hardened heart." It contained some surprises.  Rev. John Piper, who spoke about the hardened heart, said we can see this in a person who lacks "ordinary tenderness and compassion." He went on to describe the characteristics of a person without the affliction of the hardened heart. A healthy person displays empathy and sympathy. Those with the hardened heart are like stone. Young Women can see Bull$hit a Mile Away

Republicans including their Forced Birth subgroup is bother by recent election results and polling. All show young women going to the left. A poll shows young women are 30% more likely to be very liberal than young men. The link advises the Forced Birth community to give young pregnant women an uplifting message. The message suggested is, "Buck up. You've got this. You can give birth and have a happy life." Another way of saying this is, "It will be OK if you miss work and/or are fired because of the birth. If you cannot make your rent payment, it's OK. Somewhere out there is another place to live. We don't know where but be optimistic."   This is an add on to the new version of the Forced Birth message, "We're for both the baby and the mother." They are not and never have been for the mother.
