The Low Hanging Fruit in Politics are the Religious. Ask Putin


I'm sure most ordinary folks in the Western World were pleased some decades back when Putin began allowing people to attend churches. Maybe they were pleased also that he was building churches. 

Putin had come to see what kings and dictators since forever have seen. In politics, you can grab a big portion of the public by talking up religion. Religious people are the biggest suckers in the lot for some sweet god talk. Step by step, Putin built up the church going demographic in Russia. He attached himself to it and elevated his minions in the clergy. The clergy and Putin ascended together.

Today it is paying off big time. The head of the Russian Orthodox Church gave a blessing to the troops and equipment that are now off butchering innocent civilians in Ukraine. Praise Jesus. The church official appeared in a venue similar to our "National Cathedral." It is a place used to promote ideas that are both political and religious. Would Putin have received that much public support if Russia had remained secular?

This makes laughing stock of the old line some Christians use about atheists, "Your leaders are Hitler and Stalin." Now we can roll on the floor laughing and say one word, "Putin." 

Watching the Trump campaign and the attack on the Capitol building with warriors carrying crosses, we saw something similar to Putin in the U.S. It does not seem to be recognized as such by perhaps 40% of voters. They see a "God-like" figure in Trump and it is so logical to them religious people should support politically such a person because his opponents represent Satan. Will they see the similarity to what they believe and the way Putin has used religion to justify slaughter of innocent citizens in Ukraine? Actually, I doubt the ability is there. If the inability is lacking in a large swath of Russian citizens why would we think conservative U.S. voters are smarter?

    I remember being told that the world will end when Russia was "consecrated"........via the Fatima prophecy. Well, Russia has been consecrated and we are all here.......another kick prophecy in the ass occurs over and over.

    Putin is a former head of the KGB and is a master torturer and cruel killer. He and his Govt. are just as corrupt as the Trump family and administration. Why Americans support this traitor is beyond me, their gullibility to the con is frightening. Trump doesn't believe in any god.....its all a show to gain publicity and to con the religious that he is one of them.

    Thanks, Jinx. PT Barnum is supposed to have said, "A sucker is born every minute." He could just as well have said a "Christian sucker falls to a crooked politician every second."

So much about U.S. society and religion can be learned from the Civil War and what happened afterwards. After its defeat, the South started a myth about the unethical soldiers from the North. The South fought for principles of God and states rights. The North did not. Recently, the Vatican defrocked Frank Pavone. His diehard fans are outraged. This is because he cleverly manipulated his fans and the press all the while living well from donations and, apparently, abusing some women.
