Planned Parenthood Receives $275 Million Gift


Billionaire Mackenzie Scott has given Planned Parenthood the biggest donation in its history, $275 million. Reports are donations to clinics and patients have been phenomenal ever since some states passed laws mostly prohibiting abortions. With enough money, all woman who want abortions will get them. There isn't enough money for that yet, but it is moving in the right direction.

I believe it was California who has opened it vast treasury to help women from other states. 

I could see abortion clinics opening or relocating to be more convenient for out of state women. The harassment laws will still hurt women, but I predict ultimately there will be only a small number of women forced to give births they did not want. 

If this Supreme Court overturns Wade, it is almost inevitable some court in the future will have a majority to put abortion rights back into national law. Certainly, there seems no increase in anti-abortion political numbers since those backwards states outlawed it.  I saw poll numbers today showing much higher support for the current nominee than for the previous anti abortion nominee.

What will anti abortion zealots demand of their politicians if abortion number do not fall with the current draconian laws? I think it is inevitable, they will demand more draconian laws. These will be laws aimed directly at "sinful" women. 

Future laws will need to track pregnant women so they do not drive to other states for abortions. I foresee versions of house arrest. That is, women wearing ankle bracelets. These could be used to punish women who go to bars or do other unapproved things. 

The Communist system of keeping tabs on citizens so they did not engage in anti-regime politics were "cells."  These cells were made up of citizens watching their fellow citizens and reporting on them. We have the first step of that with laws in some states where citizen are rewarded with bounty payments when they report a person helping a woman get an abortion. These laws were necessary, the public was told because the regime wants your country to be great. Your country needs our party in control for this greatness.

The anti abortion version is that "babies are being killed. To stop this requires draconian laws."

Every dollar spent making abortion available is a dollar invested in a just and rational society.

So much about U.S. society and religion can be learned from the Civil War and what happened afterwards. After its defeat, the South started a myth about the unethical soldiers from the North. The South fought for principles of God and states rights. The North did not. It was the South, this propaganda told the country, that had the high moral ground.  The Capitol invaders, encouraged by Trump, swallowed the myth that Biden's election was stolen. Father Frank Pavone, the Ultimate Crook

Recently, the Vatican defrocked Frank Pavone. His diehard fans are outraged. This is because he cleverly manipulated his fans and the press all the while living well from donations and, apparently, abusing some women. By making abortion the "sin" of the century, and himself the main opposition to this one sin, he himself could get away with any sin he pleased.  As the link points out, Pavone was the perfect priest for the Trump era.
