Several Democrats No Longer Attend the Trump Rally called the National Prayer Breakfast


It's refreshing to see many Democrats taking a political risk to tell the truth. Everyone knows the National Prayer Breakfast is a Christian platform for pushing itself into the nation's laws. It has taken a while for some politicians to agree they should not endorse it by attending.

It's been widely documented Russians have tried to use the National Prayer Breakfast to lobby for their own goals. All for more reason to keep it at arm's length. No doubt it is a good vote getter for Republican politicians from some areas but that does not mean it is in the national interest.

The Prayer Breakfast is referred to by its promoters as a time when people of different political persuasions can unite in worship of the same God. What? We have elected people from many different religions and no religion in the U.S. Congress. That does not mention citizens of many religions and no religion in the general public. Saying it is a time to unit in prayer is all the more reason to discontinue the entire political farse. 

I have no idea how many times I read that when Obama attended he was insincere in his Christianity. Looking at the cast of characters, especially Trump, who has attended it is hard to conclude Obama was insincere. We don't know if he was or not. 

The event is held exclusively for its press coverage. If only the press would stop covering it it would fade away and no one would miss it.

An event that would be better at reflecting our founding fathers would be a breakfast promoting secular government. Unfortunately, there are no political juices for such a thing nor is there money to be made. Christian political events sell tickets and pay for promoters.

It is a positive development some Democrats refuse to attend and still get reelected back home. There is still at least a little support for the secular government chosen by our country's founders.

Who Suffers from a "Hardened Heart"

Some years ago on this blog there was a discussion about what the Bible calls "The hardened heart." The "hardened heart" was the explanation given for why people like me cannot accept the tenets of Christianity. We are unable to believe there are floating spirits and gods or imaginary places people go when the die. Now, a prominent Christian preacher and author has given us a way to diagnose the "hardened heart." It contained some surprises.  Rev. John Piper, who spoke about the hardened heart, said we can see this in a person who lacks "ordinary tenderness and compassion." He went on to describe the characteristics of a person without the affliction of the hardened heart. A healthy person displays empathy and sympathy. Those with the hardened heart are like stone. Young Women can see Bull$hit a Mile Away

Republicans including their Forced Birth subgroup is bother by recent election results and polling. All show young women going to the left. A poll shows young women are 30% more likely to be very liberal than young men. The link advises the Forced Birth community to give young pregnant women an uplifting message. The message suggested is, "Buck up. You've got this. You can give birth and have a happy life." Another way of saying this is, "It will be OK if you miss work and/or are fired because of the birth. If you cannot make your rent payment, it's OK. Somewhere out there is another place to live. We don't know where but be optimistic."   This is an add on to the new version of the Forced Birth message, "We're for both the baby and the mother." They are not and never have been for the mother.
