A Fundraiser for Planned Parenthood at a Catholic University


Nothing is more fun than seeing the pompous and self-righteous preen themselves in anger. Just now a student women's rights club at a Catholic University in California, Loyola-Marymount, is holding a fundraiser for Planned Parenthood. Let's add up the individuals and groups condemning them. 

First is Jesus' favorite political party, Student Republicans at Loyola-Marymount. Those students know sin when the see it. Then there is a California Statewide political party. It says it is all for freedom of speech but not when it comes to abortion. A prominent Catholic author told the President of Loyola-Marymount to stop the event. The University Administration has no plans to cancel it.

Loyola-Marymount was founded by out-of-control Jesuits which may account for some of its lack of discipline. It has ten thousand students and tuition of about $50,000 per year. That may explain also why it cares less about what the Republican and Catholic political operatives think.

Among it's out of control liberal impulses is the always present gay/lesbian/bi/trans sanctioned student group. God should be so mad the place is swept away by a storm. But there it stands making the pompous and self-righteous angry.

Universities are such a problem to the Catholic clergy hierarchy. The hierarchy should just announce it severing any relationship with colleges and universities. These institutions have truth standards the church cannot live up to. The church needs to keep the myths and false notions going in order to fill the pews and collection plate. Universities need to destroy myths in order to compete with other ones who are dedicated to truth. They are like oil and water. Each would do better without the other.

I'm sure a many Catholic officials side step the conflict by shrugging and saying, "Oh that is the University. They are supposed to teach the faith, we'll talk to them about it (but never do)." If all of them handled it this way things would go more smoothly. There is no reason "Students Organized to Help Women in Politics" should be criticized for their Planned Parenthood fundraiser. They are helping women. The Catholic Church needs women. Therefore raising money for Planned Parenthood is good for the Catholic Church.

So much about U.S. society and religion can be learned from the Civil War and what happened afterwards. After its defeat, the South started a myth about the unethical soldiers from the North. The South fought for principles of God and states rights. The North did not. It was the South, this propaganda told the country, that had the high moral ground.  The Capitol invaders, encouraged by Trump, swallowed the myth that Biden's election was stolen. Father Frank Pavone, the Ultimate Crook

Recently, the Vatican defrocked Frank Pavone. His diehard fans are outraged. This is because he cleverly manipulated his fans and the press all the while living well from donations and, apparently, abusing some women. By making abortion the "sin" of the century, and himself the main opposition to this one sin, he himself could get away with any sin he pleased.  As the link points out, Pavone was the perfect priest for the Trump era.
