Most Christians Want Abortion Rights

The anti abortion industry has been successful in bullying Christians to not speak out in favor of abortion rights. Yet polling shows abortion rights has majority support. It seems like only a matter of time before a push back using religion will happen.

I have seen material written by anti abortion industry operatives claiming that the Supreme Court will overturn Roe. The there will be massive fund raising in the industry to attack abortion state by state. For those making a living opposing abortion this is job security. The entire effort would go on for the rest of their careers, maybe for generations. All this time fund raising would provide a good living for thousands making a living in the anti abortion industry.

The majority in favor of abortion rights has yet to unify and "find a voice." This even though 61% of the public is in favor of abortion rights and 56% of Catholics. Several of the "mainline" Protestant denominations have taken official position for these rights.

The link discussed possibilities for a group pro life groups could build around. One good possibility is the Poor People's Campaign. This group has pro choice in its purpose. It is an extension of one of Martin Luther King's great efforts to rise up the lives of poor people.

Certainly we are seeing Presidential candidates from the Democratic Party become more direct and forceful about abortion rights. Hillary was upfront on it. She won the majority of votes. Kamala Harris talks up abortion rights on the campaign trail. In my view, the upcoming Presidential election will center on abortion. So many times we have seen Christian leaders say they don't like many things about President Trump but people should elect him only because he has appointed anti abortion judges.

Abortion is a religious issue just as slavery and segregation were about religion. When enough of the public did not agree with that religious view the Supreme Court reversed itself on slavery and segregation. If religious views of current Supreme Court judges causes a majority to repeal Roe smart money will wager on that being reversed again.
