Trump Cabinet Members Attend Bible Study. What is Taught There

According to this site, the pastor who conducts the Bible study attended by the Vice President and several cabinet member believes the pandemic was caused by gays and tree huggers. This is what he has said publicly. No doubt he has a reference in the Bible to back up that "fact."

One of the problems about this cause-and-effect statement by the pastor is the field of "causes" of the pandemic is crowded with sins. No doubt abortion is listed by some as the cause. Perhaps atheism. Maybe this blog caused it. Whatever is the cause it is some sin and it is the sin most disliked by whomever is the "scientist", like the pastor in DC, who announces the cause.

Various members of this administration have alluded to various kinds of sin as the nation's worst problem. Attorney General Barr has said that leaving behind Christianity means the country is headed into a moral abyss, or words to that effect.

It would make sense if the Cabinet members got together with their Bibles and prayed for forgiveness for the misery they have caused people in this country and asked to be forgiven for taking on jobs that are over their heads. I don't suppose for a minute they are that humble.

We're back then wondering what is taught our nation's highest leaders at that Bible study. If the pastor leading it is not telling them the virus was caused by gay and tree huggers what is he teaching them? When business groups call on Presidents and Presidential staff we can assume they are there to promote their own self interest. The Bible study preacher is not a registered lobbyist so we don't know what influence he is attempting to have or what he wants cabinet do to.

  1. Jon, “Attorney General Barr has said that leaving behind Christianity means the country is headed into a moral abyss, or words to that effect.”

On the contrary, any moral abyss is a consequence of Christianity’s relentless incursion into the jurisprudence of a secular State. Barr is The Fellowship’s(1) hard headed battering ram pounding away at Thomas Jefferson’s "wall of separation between church and state", ever widening the existing Jesus breach. To add to this violation we have an irresponsible, self-absorbed, narcissist at the helm who couldn’t give a good goddamn about anything but his own ass and his gilded commode.

If Pence, cabinet members, and members of Congress buy into the bull about sin being the cause of the pandemic let them and all devout Christians fall to their knees in unison and petition their almighty to immediately stop the misery and death. After all Trump said the virus will miraculously disappear. So lay it on us. We’re all waiting.

  2. If any of our clergy were in elected politics, (which they aren't) they would not be a part of "The fellowship", or the Bible study at, in, or around the White House, Congress, or the "prayer breakfast". Nor would they be associated by the person in the link.
