Anti Abortion Group Causes Abortions to Rise

I scroll through a few anti abortion sites. They all have similar themes like, "We are only one Supreme Court vote from stopping abortions (send money)", "We are so close to eliminating Planned Parenthood (send money), "Our pro life message is reducing the number of abortions (send money)" etc.

A well known anti abortion group in Iowa lobbied its legislature a couple of years ago for the state to withdraw from a federal program that pays for some family planning. The legislature, with the blessing of the Governor, replaced it with a state program that pays for little or nothing. More responsible legislators, Democrats, said both abortions and sexually transmitted diseases would rise. Statistics from 2019 were just released by State government. Both went up.

Abortions rose by 8%. This precisely counters the propaganda pumped out at the anti abortion sites. The "pro-life message" put on billboards and ads is persuading women not to have abortions? Hardly. The "pro-life message" a fetus is a human being has changed nothing. Its only accomplishment has been to raise millions of dollars "pro-life" organizations spend on themselves. The CEO's of anti abortion groups are always men. I'm sure they are paid fat salaries for their work of "stopping abortions" which they are not doing.

I saw a quote recently from an official in one of the anti abortion groups. He said, "We just lost a Supreme Court decision. We may lose the up coming election. Do no despair. Our cause is not short term, it is generational. We absolutely will win eventually."  The coded instructions are, "keep sending us money."

Its sad to know there are suckers believing this phony "generational" propaganda. Its been 42 years since Roe and no progress has been made to eliminate abortions. A generation or two has passed. All the prayers shouted at women entering clinics and speeches proclaiming one fertilized cell is a human being have left abortion clinics open.

Better birth control means fewer abortions. If anti abortion advocates want fewer abortions there is the key.

  1. A true academic would not look at this as "cause and effect". Not all variables influencing abortions, abortion rate, etc. were evaluated.

So called "family planning" is lying way of saying abortion, contraception and pro-abortion propaganda.

Let me throw out a few variables among the dozens, if not hundreds, which could be causing this rise. (1) More abortion facilities, (2) more Planned Parenthood activity in the State, (3) restrictions on abortions in neighboring States, (4) reduction in prayer and fasting to end abortion, (5) Jon Lindgren's influence, (6) the rise in atheism in Iowa, etc., etc.. etc.

How many people did you buy off to get that Ph.D. or should I assume you were legit in your youth and off your rocker in your advanced years?

Yes, there are many variables. Maybe some others changed and we don't know they changed. So far as I know, as well as the people interviewed, the only one that changed was lack of support for women who are pregnant or prefer not to be pregnant. Funds for that support were withdrawn by the Republican majority and Governor.

I know these numbers go against the phony narrative that anti abortion political activity is reducing abortions.

Good grief Matt your contempt is overloading your sorrow. The abortion of human fetuses whether spontaneous or deliberate has been going on for thousands of years and will continue as long as pregnancy occurs wanted or not. You and your church are not going to stop it. Contraception much more effective than the rhythm system may help but you would deny that option to women. You are in effect unnecessarily putting more fetuses in harms way just to feed your ego and stoke your boiling contempt. That’s a good bit ‘round the bend sir.

    3. Jon: The facts are you are the one with the phony 'cause and effect'. Case closed on that one, old boy. The facts are also, (1) the US population has increased dramatically since Roe v. Wade, (2) the abortion rate and the total number of abortions have been steadily decreasing since about 3 years post-Roe to the point the total is under 50% of peak, (3) the Holy Spirit is working through the prayers and actions of people in the pro-life movement. Oh, and (4) President Trump is in the Oval Office, a fact that infuriates you immensely but not as much as (5) Trump will recreate the Supreme Court in his second term.

Ardy B: I'm sorry for your mental illness diagnosis. Best wishes on a speedy recovery.

    4. Matt--"..the facts are.."

The work of the Holy Spirit is a "fact?" Trump "in his second term" is a fact? I'd suggest a little work is needed in use of the word "fact."

Since we’re trading snarkasms maybe your “old boy off his rocker in [his] advanced years” will grant another. Here’s one for you:

No mention of saving souls in your boast Matt. Since abortion isn’t going away here’s a suggestion on how you can further your credits in St. Peter’s book at the Pearly Gates. Is it a fact that a baptism of desire does not apply to an embryo or fetus? If so, why don’t you save some more souls by promoting the use of the old baptismal syringe and holy water to purge the fetus of original sin prior to abortion. Careful though, The Trump Pump, has a ring to it and the old shite might want to brand it for a cut.

    6. Jon: Yes, the Holy Spirit is a fact and so is the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives. As for Trump and his second term, he will recreate the Supreme Court as there will probably be 2-5 appointments to make. Notice how the far left (you, for instance) have stopped all this chatter about expanding the size of the Supreme Court? It sounded good when the far left was certain they would oust Trump, but not so good if Trump wins a second term.

Here's another fact for you. Joe Biden is cognitively impaired, so much so that a layman like myself can see it. It's sad for him and his family. I wish it on no person.

    7. Matt "Yes, the Holy Spirit is a fact and so is the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives."

If that is the case, I don't think the Holy Spirit is on you side with abortion. The Holy Spirit has not allowed the Supreme Court to reverse Roe even though Republicans have held the Presidency much of the time since Roe and lots of the time in Congress. That is the case even at the moment. It's kind of a miracle abortion rights have remained legal. Would not the Holy Spirit be required for a miracle?

If there is a Holy Spirit, it will rejoice at 4 to 12 years of Democrats and liberal judicial appointments.

    8. When God, Jesus Christ or the Holy Spirit makes you their spokesman, I will consider your arguments. You enjoy tempting them much like Satan tempted Christ before the Last Supper. The ways of God are not the ways of mankind. You use the wrong measuring stick. May God have mercy.

  2. Matt -- "You use the wrong measuring stick. May God have mercy."

From the evidence, I think it is you who has the wrong measuring stick. If there is a God, may she have mercy.
