Obamacare Data Shows the Ridiculousness of "Pro Life" Politics

Woman need abortions for a variety of reasons. For the sake of simplicity, I'll generalize and tie abortion to economics. That is, women need to time the births of their children because of the income lost while pregnant and/or the expense of birth and childcare.

Opponents of abortion claim money should not be a reason for the death of a fetus. Yet, most of them are anxious to trade deaths of children and adults for money. The lives of children and adults seem to have no value to them.

I've discussed the opposition by politically conservatives to distancing during the coronavirus epidemic. If other measures to save lives, like reducing the speed limit, my guess is the most opposition would come from people who call themselves "pro life." Powerful data showing of "pro life" hypocrisy was revealed recently in a study of cancer deaths in Obamacare states.

Surely no one in their right mind would dispute that early visits to medical professionals catch serious illnesses early and increase the odds these illnesses will be fatal. Logic would led us to the conclusion the easier it is to visit the doctor the more likely people will do so. Conversely, the harder it is the more people will die from late diagnosis.

This is exactly what has played out when states with Obamacare and its lower out-of-pocket cost were compared to states without Obamacare. Cancer death rates are lower. So far as we know, there are no other variables that could account for these different life saving outcomes. Conservatives are happy to see lives lost so long as they do not have to subsidize medical care or tolerate "socialized medicine," the current political headliner.

The ridiculousness of "pro life" politics is furthered by on the one hand not wanting government to provide medical services that save lives and on the other wanting bigger government to enforce anti abortion laws they anticipate.

If we REALLY want to "make America great again," the first thing we should do is get religion out of our government.
