Can Anyone Believe Every Word of the Apostle's Creed



Al Mohler is the President is the President of a Southern Baptist Seminary. He is quoted a lot on conservative Christian sites. That Mohler holds a high ranking position is the result of a cue some years ago where more intellectual types were fired and people like Mohler moved in.

He recently wrote a book about what "true Christians" must believe and why. To me, the book reveals the weakness of the faith and explains at least some of the reasons his own brand is declining in popularity.

Mohler says there are three recitations that contain the message of Christianity, the Apostle's Creed, Ten Commandments and Lord's prayer. Then, because he considers himself as authority on such matters, he explains what the parts mean that make no sense.

One is where Jesus "descends into hell." How could Jesus, who did not sin, go to hell? And, if he was in hell, why did he ascend into heaven. Remember, a true Christian must believe everything in the Apostle's Creed.

Molher explains that even though the Creed says Jesus was in hell, it does not mean he actually was in hell. It means, he claims, Jesus was dead. This interpretation would make good material for a stand-up comedian.

The made up tales of Christianity keep going. Some claim they read and take every word of the Bible literally. Then there are those who claim to know precisely which parts of it to take literally and which to blow off as tall tales. Then there is Molher who tells us we are to take literally the Apostle's Creed, Ten Commandments and Lord's Prayer, except for those parts that should not be taken literally.

So much about U.S. society and religion can be learned from the Civil War and what happened afterwards. After its defeat, the South started a myth about the unethical soldiers from the North. The South fought for principles of God and states rights. The North did not. Father Frank Pavone, the Ultimate Crook

Recently, the Vatican defrocked Frank Pavone. His diehard fans are outraged. This is because he cleverly manipulated his fans and the press all the while living well from donations and, apparently, abusing some women. By making abortion the "sin" of the century, and himself the main opposition to this one sin, he himself could get away with any sin he pleased.  As the link points out, Pavone was the perfect priest for the Trump era.
