Birth Rate of Hispanics is Plummeting


So many characteristics of our society are caused ultimately by demographics. These include politics, religion and wealth. Various church groups from Catholic to Pentecostal now depend on a high birth rate among Hispanics for maintaining numbers. The Democratic Party also needs them.

But, the number of births per 1,000 women has dropped almost overnight. Women are delaying marriage and children just as their white counterparts have done the last few decades.

In the article about this, young Hispanic women were asked about their plans for marriage and children. They said they wanted to wait until their 30's so they could first get their careers established. Their parents encouraged them is such planning saying they wanted a better life for their daughters than they themselves have had.

It has been said by those who don't like Muslim people that the number of children of parents in that faith are much larger. This is an indication that religion will one day dominate other religions in the U.S. like Christianity. My guess is that young women in that faith will in time make the same decision as Hispanic and white women are making today. The numbers of babies will drop.

When unmarried Catholic clergy promote "natural birth control" and advocate large families they are doing so without taking on any of the responsibility themselves. The $200,000 or so it takes to raise a child today does not appear as the result of praying.

Hispanic women are learning what white women learned back a few years. The more conservatives cut back government support of children the fewer children they can afford to raise.

    ho hum. immigrants and minorities soon tend to blend in, adopting many of the values of the majority culture. nothing new there. as to 200K to raise a child. what of the kid's eventual contribution to society? it's usually quite positive. if everyone adopted your value system, there soon wouldn't be an economy. maybe you are not even aware of the problems growing out of the demographic inbalance in the US (and elsewhere in the world).

    I can't follow that post. "200K" is what is costs the parents to raise a child. What the child returns to society has nothing to do with that. Liberals have always advocated more support for raising children. The reason is that children grow up to support the society. But conservatives are dead set against that. As to "problems growing out of demographic imbalance..." you must be referring to the coming minority of white people. That is right out of the KKK handbook.

So much about U.S. society and religion can be learned from the Civil War and what happened afterwards. After its defeat, the South started a myth about the unethical soldiers from the North. The South fought for principles of God and states rights. The North did not. Father Frank Pavone, the Ultimate Crook

Recently, the Vatican defrocked Frank Pavone. His diehard fans are outraged. This is because he cleverly manipulated his fans and the press all the while living well from donations and, apparently, abusing some women. By making abortion the "sin" of the century, and himself the main opposition to this one sin, he himself could get away with any sin he pleased.  As the link points out, Pavone was the perfect priest for the Trump era.
