In Texas, Fear of Muslims. In Iowa, Fear of Satan

Near Dallas is a planned community for Muslims. Or at least there were such plans. When Republican Governor Abbot heard about the community, he hit the roof and started investigations and making threats.

Down the street from me here in Iowa, the ACLU has filed suit against the Governor for refusing to allow the Satanic Temple from joining other religions who have holiday displays in the Capitol. Our Baptist Governor said it would be harmful for children to see a display of Satan. The Governor's theory about children seeing something "bad" reminded me of one of our granddaughters. She knew nothing about church or churches as a preteen but attended some civic event at a Catholic church. Afterwards, apparently having noticed the ever-present crosses with hanging Jesuses, she asked her mother, "Why are they so mean to Jesus."

Christians have been pushing emotional buttons since day one. The main button is death, "If you are scared of death join our group. None of our groups dies." A group of atheists were bored just enjoying life with no sin or hell to worry about. They decided to have some fun pressing the emotional buttons of Christians. Out of that came the Satanic Temple. It put some Christians on edge. I wonder if there are yet other Christian buttons to push.

On a Christian site some Christians are saying the Satanic Temple should not be allowed because members of the group do not believe there is a Satan. Christians say their God exists, it's just that no one can see it. The Satan people say their god exists just as much as the Christian one.
