A Pro Life in Texas: Anti Abortion Laws Will Not Be Enforced

While history does not always repeat itself, in many cases it does. How often, for example, does the public in the U.S. support large increases in either taxes or the powers of government?

A pro-life writer in Austin, TX points out what has been discussed often on this blog. During the long period before Roe, there were very few prosecutions of abortion providers. We know there were millions of abortions. Now there are legislators who tell the public, "We passed this draconian law against abortion. You can send us money and vote for us."  These same legislators are not throwing huge tax dollars toward enforcement. Mostly, they are the same politicians who oppose expanding government powers.

If one were to list all the state laws across the U.S. that are not enforced, it would require a heavy book. The link author points to a law in Maryland which makes adultery a violation. There is a fine. Is this completely ignored law what lies ahead for abortion?

Mississippi and Texas have, as I understand, the most draconian state laws in the U.S. Will both states cough up the large increase in law enforcement budgets to enforce these laws? Let's look at the news today.

Jackson, Mississippi right now has a compromised water system. Pundits say it has failed because state and local governments have not kept the system updated. It's safe to say they don't believe in higher taxes and delivering effective government services. Will it be popular among Mississippi voters to not fix that water system so it can add to law enforcement budgets to prosecute women for having abortions? Mark me doubtful.

Texas companies face one million dollar fines for failing to prepare for global warming. While that is happening, fires are being fought in many areas of the state because areas are not prepared for the new weather patterns.

On another topic, the New Mexico governor just ear marked $10 million for a new abortion clinic on New Mexico's border with Texas. If ever there was evidence the anti-abortion law will not stop Texas women from getting abortions, there you have it.
